Rob Hartley

Rob Hartley is on his second stint as musical director for the Sounds of Aloha, having led the chorus from 1986 to 1990. Rob grew up listening to barbershop and has been singing it since high school. He joined the Aloha Chapter in 1980 and has sung in a number of quartets, most notably the Sugarcane Express, the Tropichords, and Tropical Nights. Besides directing the men's chorus, Rob is an elementary music teacher, a church choir director, and musical director for the Honolulu Blend Show Chorus, a prospective chapter of Sweet Adelines (women's barbershop). He holds a BA in music education, an MA in composition, and is a member of the Hawai'i chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
