The
Pacific Trades
The
Pacific Trades is an a capella quartet who sings an entertaining
mix of tight barbershop harmony, toe-tapping doo-wop, cool jazz
and smooth love ballads. Hailing from the Sounds of Aloha Chorus,
the quartet formed in 1999 for a performance in the chorus' annual
show and have been performing for audiences ever since. Their flexibility
with many musical styles provides a fund and entertaining variety
for audiences of all kinds, which include Christmas parties, weddings,
shopping malls and birthday parties. The sky's the limit! The quartet
members are Jordan Wong (tenor), Ken Foreman (baritone), Robert
Ing (lead), and Phillip Wee (bass). For booking information, contact
Phillip Wee at 737-3960. |
Tropic
Nights
Tropical
Nights, formed in 2005, brings over seventy-five years of barbershop
to the stage (most of them belonging to Rob!). The quartet consist
of Mike Darcey (tenor), F. Scott Nessler (lead), Rob Hartley (bass),
and Tim Hopkins (bari). All are active members of the Sounds of
Aloha Chorus, and enjoy singing to escape their more mundane professions
such as pole vault salesman, and Labrador Retriever retriever at
a local kennel. The quartet's fun was abruptly interrupted last
year when Scott found himself in Afghanistan. He returned eight
months later, after a vain attempt at finding the Afghan Navy. He
also noted that there was little interest from the Afghan Olympic
team for pole vaulting supplies. The quartet members thought it
innappropriate to mention that they are available for hire (prior
engagements includ Farrell's, Ward Center, Hawaii Theatre, Pacific
Club, and numerous private organizations). Contact Mike Darcey at
tropicalnight@gmail.com.
